UNIKIN — University Digital Transformation Mission

"AL & Legacy supported the University of Kinshasa through a comprehensive digital transformation to modernize teaching and academic management."

Deployment DateFebruary 2024

The Challenge

The University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), with 40,000 students, faced a paradox: training tomorrow's leaders with yesterday's tools. Managing registrations, archiving academic records, and internal communication still relied on manual processes, causing delays, data loss, and a degraded student experience.

Our Solution

AL & Legacy conducted a comprehensive organizational diagnostic of UNIKIN, identifying the 12 most critical processes to digitize as a priority. A 4-phase structured transformation plan was developed in consultation with academic authorities.

  • Academic Information System: Deployment of an integrated platform for managing registrations, grade reports, and diplomas.
  • E-learning Platform: Implementation of an online learning environment accessible from campuses and remotely.
  • Staff Training: A 6-month program for 350 administrative and teaching staff members.
  • Network Infrastructure: Wi-Fi deployment across 3 main campuses with a performance monitoring system.

The Impact

  • Digitization: 100% of annual registrations processed online from the first academic year.
  • E-learning: 8,500 active students on the platform within the first 6 months.
  • Efficiency: 70% reduction in academic results processing time.
  • Replicable Model: The UNIKIN model is now being adapted for 3 other Congolese universities.
